Usapang Bertdey

Yesterday was my mom's birthday. Like what we traditionally do, we put up a little family feast at home; however, unlike past celebrations, we the offsprings were in full charge this time. From the budget to the menu to the food preparation (and left-over consumption!) I and my five siblings joined forces to give our mothergoose a night she deserves.
Mai-Mai and Lolit, ages 4 and 11, baked biscuits and cupcakes which actually doubled as the birthday cake. Seen above is the improvised cake they made by planting candles on the little yellow muffins. Barok (13), though a rascal he is, whole-heartedly washed the dishes that kept on piling up due to our unending cooking needs. Bokyo (16) made the chicken gravy, Mari (18) bought the salad, chicken, ice cream, drinks, etc. while I cooked pasta and ruined it by forgetting to add ground beef to the sauce! Therefore I ended up serving a soupy spaghetti or nilagang spageti as my mom teased.
Anyway, we all had a wonderful time last night and I personally was ecstatic within knowing that despite the simplicity, the family is still together celebrating life and enjoying each others' company.
I am surely going to miss this togetherness when I leave this June.
