Enumeration (again)
I have little chunks of everything to say (with so little time), hence this type of entry.
1. The hardest thing about living in another country is that you miss out important gatherings such as this and it's appalling to know that all of your friends are going to be there and all you could do is wait for the pictures and die of envy at the stories that they have to share.
2. We finally moved in to a new apartment and it's a miracle how the empty little space was transformed into a liveable crib in just a few days, without us purchasing any furniture! A million thanks to our relatives, new friends, and junk finds from neighbors! We really appreciate your generous donations. I'll be posting pictures of our new home in another entry.
3. I'm too bored of wearing jackets, turtlenecks, and practically heavy layers of clothing. The weather here hasn't warned up a bit, and it's undeniably stressful for me to take a bath every morning. Sometimes I'm even tempted not to take a bath at all, but my conscience is killing me, as if it's a sin not to hit the shower.
4. My sister Lolit won Best Performer in our city's recent Talent Show Challenge and has another contest in Las Vegas in July and a guest performance in some coronation night for a Filipino community here in California. 'Yan ang Pinoy!
5. I finally found my hatest movie of all. There's this (take note!) horror movie, The Haunting, starring the very dear Catherine Zeta-Jones which is so horribly made you'd mistake it for comedy. My family and I were really laughing out loud watching the movie on a supposed scary-movie-night, because the effects and the story were pathetic---even a four-year-old wouldn't find those fake roots growing from the bed or that ceiling growing its own mouth frightening. What a waste of resources.
6. I've made the conclusion that there are lots of great Filipino blogs out there that we all should go check out. Filipino blogs from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, Australia, Canada, US, Hongkong, France, etc. I've stumbled upon a few of them last week and couldn't wait to read more!
7. Things may really be difficult for us here these days, but I'm really thankful that I have a family going through all these with me. We've been closer during the last five roller-coaster months, seeing each other in a perspective we've never seen before. It's amazing. Thank God for the family. I couldn't ask for more.
